The Earl Of Grey Smells Like a Princess

5 Sep

Earl of Grey Smelling Pretty

Tazo’s Earl Grey (tea bag format) was the one tea that got me through a week of instructing a martial arts kids camp. My body is very anti-mornings. Whatever it is about my chemistry, mornings are just not for me. Getting up to do a kids camp at 9am was a strain. Getting somewhere by 9am is bad enough, never mind that it’s to deal with high energy kids. Ugh. Don’t get me wrong. It was a good experience. It was even fun at times, you know, when the caffeine kicked in. But kids at 9am. Dude.

I was in “grab whatever caffeine I could find” mode, and I found a box of Tazo’s Earl Grey in my pantry. Not my favorite, but it met all the qualifications of having caffeine and being palatable.

Teavivre: Bailin Gongfu Black Tea

The good folks at Teavivre were very kind to offer me the chance to review some of their teas. Of course, that was at the same time things starting getting retarded in my life and I was about ready to set things on fire. Now that things have settled, I will review their samples promptly, carefully and lovingly. (more…)

Sexy RTD Glasses – My Impluse Shopping Weakness

21 Oct

I don’t like grocery shopping. At least, I don’t like having to GO grocery shopping. L.A.Z.Y. I aint got no alibi… I’m lazy! Just not a fan. It’s kinda boring, takes awhile, there’s a fair amount of obnoxious people. I suppose since I’m attempting to be gluten and dairy free, it’s also an extreme test of willpower. Trying to find obscure ingredients and exotic spices to use so you stop thinking about how much you miss bread and yogurt… Trying to avoid aisles with gluten and dairy products… Walking by the tortilla end display without grabbing a pack… BTW, if you’ve never been gluten and/or dairy free, try it. Just for lols.

My one grocery weakness is fancy packaging. I’m terrible with fancy packaging. Doesn’t matter what it’s for. Thai Kitchen kills me with packaging. Being gluten free, it’s on my list anyway but I spend forever looking at everything. Ooo… a new curry. Ooo… a new instant noodles. Eww… fish sauce. Barbecue sauce glasses, orange juice jugs, frozen dinner packaging, and of course RTD beverage packaging all cry out to me from the shelves and say, “WE’RE SEXY SO WE MUST TASTE GOOD!” Argo Tea’s RTD called out to me a couple weeks ago, from a low level end display near the produce section. Steepster Select – August 2011 – Summer Lovin’ (2 of 3)

28 Sep

This is nice. Amidst all of the busy busy busy everything, I am just sitting here, doing nothing, and having a cup of tea. Perfect tea moment. I should be doing other things. Lots of other things. But I’m not. This isn’t the first time I’ve had this tea and originally I had a different write up for it. Something far more chaotic as chaotic was the flavor of the day when I originally started the entry.* This moment is far more deserving of a blog spot though, as these moments are by far rarer in my schedule as of late. I’m not even going to ruin it with sarcasm or cynicism right now. *gasp* It’s a beautiful, early fall day outside and I’m going to enjoy the rest of my delicious cup before I have to go beat on people with sticks at martial arts. It Must Be A Bold Black Tea

18 Jul

It’s a perfectly blah day outside. Perfectly blah Monday. Time for some effortless, better-than-blah black tea. I often scoff at teabags but they certainly have a place in my cupboard, especially for days like today where I’ve got a mad case of the blahs and don’t feel like doing anything. Even measuring tea is a tremendous expense of energy today and you can forget about cleaning out used leaves post-brew. Boiling water is almost beyond me today. No, today is time for a good bagged tea – simple, bold, and black. So very black. (more…)
