It’s yet another gray and gloomy day in the land of Portlandia. Don’t you all want to live here! Woohoo!
For whatever reason, the Muse of Cleaning is speaking to me today. I don’t recall invoking her so she must just be here of her own volition, telling me there’s too much clutter and my feng shui’s all out of whack. Maybe my apartment was so bad that she felt an emergency visit was needed.
The Muse of Tea is always in my place though, and she’s demanding that I open the next sampler from Teavivre. Who am I to argue? What better way to fix my feng shui, than with the help of tea… (more…)

Today’s one of those creepy weird days where last night, I totally had in my mind something like 3-5 different things I wanted to get done if I was feeling awesome in the morning. Today I woke up and had a lot of energy, but it was more like an anxious before-the-storm energy, and just wanted to do EVERYTHING – AT THE SAME TIME. NOW. RIGHT NOW. Lots of enthusiastic energy and lack of focus is terrible. You get 10 things partially done and then crash, so nothing actually gets done. You are awful, adrenal system! This isn’t helping at all. Jerk.
Fortunately, I recognized the situation after about 15 minutes of running around like a headless chicken, and realized the most logical course of action was to stop everything and drink tea. Aside from the focusing and leveling powers of tea, I’ve found that this little bit of guiding wisdom is helpful and applicable in many, many situations:
When in doubt, drink tea.
So I did. And I finished a tea review to boot. WINNING! (more…)

I was really hoping for some kickass weather this weekend. My productivity goes through the roof on a glorious summer day. The news kept talking about how it’s gonna be so sunny and awesome and wonderful… and then all we got was some ridiculously blah overcast. Nothing demotivates quite like a serious overcast. It’s like the weather gods didn’t care enough to paint a nice sky or put together a brooding rain storm. They just slapped some shades of gray on a painfully blank canvas. Their laziness is contagious! Or maybe it’s like someone sucked the life out of the sky and now its a pale vampire zombie, limping along lifelessly outside my window and making me want to play Wii all day. Terrible weekend for a BBQ. Pretty good weekend for tea though, giving me a good opportunity to review another of Teavivre’s samples! Woohoo! Movin’ right along… (more…)

The good folks at Teavivre were very kind to offer me the chance to review some of their teas. Of course, that was at the same time things starting getting retarded in my life and I was about ready to set things on fire. Now that things have settled, I will review their samples promptly, carefully and lovingly. (more…)

I hate apartment hunting. So much lol. Everything is so expensive these days. It’s ridiculous. It’s either too expensive or too old or in a bad neighborhood or was designed by a retarded monkey. The fireplace does NOT belong in the middle of the apartment! The heating vents do NOT belong on the valuable wall space. In one of my many other lives, I will design apartments that won’t drive people crazy, and there will be much rejoicing. In the meantime, I will rejoice about tea. This swiss apple was pretty damn good actually… (more…)

Oh. My. Tea. I slept last night. It’s a miracle. I slept nine hours. NINE hours. I wonder if it was the Cherry Marzipan from last night. If it was, I need to buy more. Now. In fact, I got so much sleep that I’m awake enough to do a tea review early today, before martial arts. Amazing.
I saw the sample offer from Magic Carpet Tea and decided to jump on it. Oolong with dates you say? Yes, please. Interest in an oolong sample requires no explanation but you may be wondering, dates? Really? I like dates. You know why? Because Indiana Jones likes them. I know you’ve seen Raiders Of The Lost Ark. If you haven’t, get out. Right now. Don’t come back until you’ve watched it.

So much tea. So little time of late. Actually there has still been much tea. Just prescription tea. Yes, one of my prescribed medications, so to speak, is a tea. Which is awesome. Just not awesome for trying new teas. After drinking 4-8 cups of this tea a day, I’m not in the mood to reflect on a new tea. But before I move on to the one new tea I’ve been drinking lately, this is what I’ve been drinking: Honso Kampo Forumlas. And it makes me wonder, why aren’t these popular here yet? I mean really, if they’ve got the excellent statistics from well controlled clinical trials to back up the formulas, it sounds good to me. Two cups, two times a day of the appropriate herbs and you’ll be feeling better without the pain in the ass side effects of more chemical drugs. In fact, why isn’t tea in general more of a medically prescribed thing? I don’t mean in the sense that you have to go to a pharmacy for it, but more in the, “an apple a day keeps the doctor away” recommendation. It should be part of a standard health regiment. I’ve seen tea work its way into health publications in terms of weight loss, but just not as a good practice yet. Time to investigate! But first, the new tea… (more…)

This is nice. Amidst all of the busy busy busy everything, I am just sitting here, doing nothing, and having a cup of tea. Perfect tea moment. I should be doing other things. Lots of other things. But I’m not. This isn’t the first time I’ve had this tea and originally I had a different write up for it. Something far more chaotic as chaotic was the flavor of the day when I originally started the entry.* This moment is far more deserving of a blog spot though, as these moments are by far rarer in my schedule as of late. I’m not even going to ruin it with sarcasm or cynicism right now. *gasp* It’s a beautiful, early fall day outside and I’m going to enjoy the rest of my delicious cup before I have to go beat on people with sticks at martial arts.
