Teavivre: Tie Guan Yin "Iron Goddess" Oolong Tea

Today’s one of those creepy weird days where last night, I totally had in my mind something like 3-5 different things I wanted to get done if I was feeling awesome in the morning. Today I woke up and had a lot of energy, but it was more like an anxious before-the-storm energy, and just wanted to do EVERYTHING – AT THE SAME TIME. NOW. RIGHT NOW. Lots of enthusiastic energy and lack of focus is terrible. You get 10 things partially done and then crash, so nothing actually gets done. You are awful, adrenal system! This isn’t helping at all. Jerk.

Fortunately, I recognized the situation after about 15 minutes of running around like a headless chicken, and realized the most logical course of action was to stop everything and drink tea. Aside from the focusing and leveling powers of tea, I’ve found that this little bit of guiding wisdom is helpful and applicable in many, many situations:

When in doubt, drink tea.

So I did. And I finished a tea review to boot. WINNING! (more…)

A Magic Carpet Ride

27 Oct

Oh. My. Tea. I slept last night. It’s a miracle. I slept nine hours. NINE hours. I wonder if it was the Cherry Marzipan from last night. If it was, I need to buy more. Now. In fact, I got so much sleep that I’m awake enough to do a tea review early today, before martial arts. Amazing.

I saw the sample offer from Magic Carpet Tea and decided to jump on it. Oolong with dates you say? Yes, please. Interest in an oolong sample requires no explanation but you may be wondering, dates? Really? I like dates. You know why? Because Indiana Jones likes them. I know you’ve seen Raiders Of The Lost Ark. If you haven’t, get out. Right now. Don’t come back until you’ve watched it.

Tea of Procrastination – Quick and Dirty Oolong

23 Aug

I haven’t posted in awhile because it took forever to get those Tea Forte pics off the camera, through Photoshop, and uploaded to the blog. I didn’t want to post until I was all caught up and I had time to get photos of a new tea. Read: I got bored amidst sifting through the many photos and procrastinated a lot. In fact, I’m procrastinating now. Yes, I’m writing about tea to procrastinate on something else. I have new bedroom furniture coming in this week. The old furniture gets moved tomorrow morning, in approximately eight hours, and my room is still a disaster, I mean, still has a lived in look. I know where everything is! It’s an organized chaos! Shh…

So I’ve got a lot of work. I’m really tired. I need caffeine – but not so much that I’ll stay up until the morning. I want an oolong, but most of my oolongs are the kind you sit, sip, experience, and enjoy, and I don’t have time for that tonight. Time to bring out Utopia Tea’s Oolong Formosa. (more…)

The Inaugural Ali Shan

15 Jul

I wanted to inaugurate the blog with one of my favorite teas of late. Something that would be easy to rave about. Also something to just improve my day, as I have had many days of suck with what is going on five weeks of intense shoulder rehab as well as all of my tomato transplants dying this week after a heavy rain, as well as someone killing my volunteer butterfly bushes thinking they were weeds. Goodie. This is one of those teas that I drink because I love me, and I deserve delicious things every so often. It makes me smile and go to a happy place, like a good scotch. Mmm… scotch… (more…)
